Current Students

For current students, we hope that you will also familiarise yourself with the enrolment flow for each semester.

Starting on 20 February 2023, students are required to update your Student Profile in the Student Profile screen on MAYA. You will need to update your profile records before continuing with your enrolment status activation.

Module Registration and Enrolment Status Activation

Finally, it is important to pay attention to the start date and end date for module registrations. Typically, the deadline for registering for modules (courses) is before the start of the semester, during the module registration period. The deadline for module registration is the last date for you to register for your courses. We will announce the date to you when it is made available.

It is therefore advisable for you to study the time table. From the time table, you can also access the course information to learn more about the courses that are being offered. before deciding which courses you would like to register for this semester.

For those who are enrolled in our MA Mixed mode programmes, we like to inform you that you are not required to complete all your coursework (modules or classes) in order to begin your dissertation research. However, in order to begin your dissertation research, you’re required to register for the Dissertation Module and complete a tasks as described in the next section.

Dissertation research in MA Mixed mode programmes

For our Mixed mode programme students who wish to embark on their dissertation research, they will need to first register for the ‘Dissertation Module’ in the programme they are enrolled in. The student then proceeds to fill up the ‘appointment of supervisor form’ and also nominate a topic of research in consultation with their supervisor(s). It is important that the student finds a supervisor and nominate a topic of research within the semester. Without an appointed supervisor and a nominated topic, the student will not be able to submit their progress report in the MAYA system by the end of the semester.

What is a Progress Report?

A progress report is a document that provides an update on the status of your research. It typically includes information on the accomplishments achieved, challenges faced, and goals for the future. Progress reports are important for keeping the University informed and ensuring that the research project stays on track and meets its objectives.

Anyone who has registered for the ‘Dissertation Module’, including MA and PhD candidates, will need to fill up a progress report at the end of every semester. The candidate's research performance will then be assessed by their supervisor(s). In case of poor performance, an 'unsatisfactory' evaluation may be given by the supervisor(s). If a candidate receives consecutive 'unsatisfactory' evaluations for two semesters, their candidacy will be terminated.
